The biography of Enzo Pinelli the
Solidea legwear brand
Legwear designer Enzo Pinelli established in 1976 a legwear company in
Castel
Goffredo, Northern Italy, an area renowned for its high
quality hosiery
industry.
 Enzo
Pinelli was born in 1950 to a farming family. In 1976, he began working in one
of the world leading company for production of circular machinery for weaving
stockings, where he remained until 1973. Drawing from his experience in
producing excellent fabrics, Pinelli ventured into the production of legwear in
1976. With the support of his wife Cristina, just several months after their
marriage, they built their first “plant” in a little cottage room adjacent to
their house. Calzificio Pinelli was born.
His first hosiery collection was shown in 1978 and was considered a revolution
in legwear at the time.
His vision was simple: create a line of legwear and shapewear that combine
elegant feminine features coupled with health and beauty benefits that go beyond
than what meets the eye. So the
SOLIDEA
brand was born – a collection that revitalizes the parts other hosiery cannot
reach.
Since its inception,
Solidea has been guided by the Pinelli family, Enzo, his
wife Cristina and sons Luca and Michele. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Enzo Pinelli has overseen the company's design direction and inspired its
spirited and significant expansion since 1980. Luca Pinelli, Senior Executive
Vice President, oversees retail, processing, shipping and customer relations for
Solidea which has product licenses throughout the world.
The 1990's had taken hosiery design down a path with little direction. It was a
time when people thought legwear was outdated and ceased to think of pantyhose
as a fashion statement – Enzo Pinelli would change that forever. The attitude,
while timeless, was sensuous yet strong and chic. The
Solidea approach was
fresh, setting a standard for the new vision of hosiery.
 In 2003, due to its exploding growth and the addition of modern equipment, the
company’s production complex grew to more than 40,000 sq. feet. A new wing for
its corporate offices was added which is an architectural marvel on its own.
Enzo Pinelli continues to research, imagine and create through technology and
science. The science behind his designs is now covered under several
international patents.
Pinelli
is reported to lock himself in his design studio and not be seen for days while
and immersing himself into, and tweaking each detail of his designs.
The Solidea collection is currently sold internationally in the US, England,
Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, France and Italy.
Enzo
Pinelli and Calzificio Pinelli SRL are the holders of the patented
